There are few things as quietly beautiful as a Kinnauri shawl. This one is woven on a traditional handloom in a soft natural beige, with three bold pattis (woven borders) running across each end. Deep red bands carry geometric Kinnauri motifs in royal blue, white, orange and leaf green, a pattern language passed down through generations of weavers in the high valleys of Himachal.
The motifs are not printed or embroidered. They are woven into the fabric thread by thread, which is why a single shawl takes days of patient work at the loom. Small scattered motifs across the beige body tie the borders together, and hand-knotted fringes finish both ends.
Wear it draped over a kurta, wrapped over a winter coat, or folded across the shoulders on a crisp mountain morning. It is a piece made to be worn for years and handed down. Every shawl is made by the women artisans of Pahadan’s, so each one has its own small variations, the mark of something truly made by hand.
Fit & Feel
Generously sized and fluid, it drapes easily and wraps snugly without feeling heavy. The twill weave is soft against the skin and warm enough for real Himalayan winters.
